The Tiny Pumpkin Nail Studio

Give mini pumpkins their own little manicure. Think botanical stencils, berry dots, moon shapes, scallops and tiny French tips, all on real irregular pumpkins that still look like pumpkins.

Six mini pumpkins with scalloped edges, dots, small leaves and star patterns.

Mini manicures

Follow the pumpkin’s own ridges with scalloped tips, half moons or one neat row of dots.

Five decorated mini pumpkins with a paper stencil library of leaves, stars, flowers and moons.

A tiny stencil library

Use low-tack paper stencils for ferns, flowers, moons and stars. A little irregularity keeps the result human.

Three ivory mini pumpkins with layered amber, berry and dark botanical marks.

Botanical jewels

Layer amber, berry and dark brown marks into small painterly clusters. Let each color dry before adding the next.

Five bright mini pumpkins decorated with washable dots, leaves, flowers and scallops beside water-based markers.

The washable version

Bring in coral, lavender, pink and moss with washable water-based materials for a brighter family craft table.

A simple setup

  1. Wash and completely dry each mini pumpkin.
  2. Protect the table and stabilize each pumpkin in a folded towel ring.
  3. Choose one small motif and two or three colors.
  4. Secure the stencil lightly, then dab rather than brush across its edge.
  5. Let every layer dry before turning or displaying the pumpkin.
